How do you compare the nameplate of a delivered motor with the order?

Put the order confirmation and the motor nameplate side by side and tick off the values line by line; do this before installation and first start-up. If there is a difference, it is important to report it before connecting the motor, because return and exchange rights depend on the motor being unused and not installed.

Differences that are normal

Seeing a value slightly below 1500 on the nameplate when the order says “1500 rpm” is not an error. An induction motor runs slightly below synchronous speed under load; the rated speed on the nameplate includes this slip. Likewise, the current value on the nameplate may not appear in the order document; that line is outside the comparison.

Physical check

Even if the nameplate is correct, the mounting arrangement, shaft end and terminal box position should be checked visually. Measuring the shaft diameter with a caliper and comparing it with the product record takes a few minutes. For the 4 kW 3000 rpm DRG-112M-2-AL model, the recorded shaft is 28×60 mm and the shaft height 112 mm; if your measurements differ, the wrong model may have been delivered.

Recording and reporting

• Write the serial number and delivery date in the machine record; a warranty claim requires the model, serial number and the invoice or delivery note.
• If the packaging is damaged, have the carrier draw up a report before accepting delivery.
• If the nameplate and the order differ, report it to DRG with photos before running the motor.
