Electric motors used in stone crushing (crusher) plants are high-torque and durable motors designed for tough working conditions. In these plants, motors power both the main crushers and auxiliary equipment.

1. Types of Motors Used

  • Three-Phase Asynchronous Motors (IE3 Standard)

    • The most widely used type of motor.

    • High starting torque and robust design.

  • High-Efficiency Motors (IE4 – IE5)

    • Increasingly preferred in large plants with high energy costs.

2. Operating Conditions

  • S1 duty cycle (continuous operation at full load) is preferred.

  • Due to dusty environments, motors must have IP55 – IP65 protection class.

  • For vibrating machines (screens, feeders), flange-mounted or special bearing motors are used.

  • Starting current is controlled with star-delta starters or soft starters.
