The most reliable approach is to write down, item by item, the requirements the maintenance team has gathered on site and to match every value of the quoted model code against those items. Model names may differ; the real question is whether the proposed motor meets the mechanical, electrical and environmental conditions of the machine in the same way.

DRG-160M-6 7.5 kW 1000 rpm cast iron frame DRG three-phase motor – maintenance vs purchasing motor comparison

Why does the maintenance list differ from the purchasing line?

The maintenance team sees the motor next to the machine: base holes, pulley, direction of the cable entry, a dusty or damp environment. Purchasing, on the other hand, often collects quotes with nothing more than a line reading “11 kW 1500 rpm”. That line defines power and speed; it does not define frame length, shaft size, mounting arrangement or frame material. For 11 kW 1500 rpm, the DRG store lists aluminium and cast iron models in the 160M frame as well as a compact model in the 132M frame. All three have the same power, but their shaft height and shaft size differ.

How do you build the matching table?

CriterionMaintenance findingQuoted valueCheck question
Power and speedkW and rpm on the nameplatekW and poles in the model codeAre the values equal?
IEC frame and HBase and baseframe dimensionsDimension record of the modelWill the baseframe change?
Shaft D×E and keyPulley or coupling hubShaft size of the modelIs a new hub needed?
VoltagePanel and starting arrangement230/400 V or 400/690 VDoes it suit the existing panel?
Frame materialVibration, impact, environmentAluminium or cast ironIs it acceptable for the site?

If any check question is answered “no”, either the quote is corrected or the consequence of the difference (new base, new pulley, panel modification) is added to the quote as cost and downtime.

Who signs off the final decision?

Purchasing should not close a difference on its own by calling it an “equivalent”; technical approval comes from the maintenance or project lead. To see the values side by side, up to three models can be selected on the motor comparison page; a value without a record is not estimated there and has to be asked for separately. The information most often missing is the load type of the machine and the starting method; the order should not be approved until these are clear.

As an example, you can review the product page of the 11 kW cast iron model in the 160M frame or all three-phase motor models listed with their dimension records.
