A plain distinction first: the electrospindle at the heart of a CNC stone machine and the servo motors that drive its axes are not in the DRG range. We do not sell these high-speed motors with HSK/ISO or similar tool holders and matched drives, and we do not offer a standard induction motor in their place. This page covers the motors working around the CNC machine that we can supply: vacuum pump, cooling and water pump, hydraulic unit, slurry and chip conveyor, and the standard blade motor found on some bridge-blade machines.
DRG Motor is a manufacturer, supplier and seller of electric motors. The machine itself, the control unit, drives (inverters), gearboxes, hydraulic and water pump bodies and the pump section of vacuum pumps are also outside our scope; what we supply is the three-phase IEC motor that turns them. The models are on Buy Electric Motors Online.
Why can’t an electrospindle or servo be replaced with a standard motor?
In an electrospindle the motor rotor is the tool shaft itself; bearings, tool clamping and the internal water channel are built around that shaft. Speed is set by the drive from a few thousand to tens of thousands of rpm. A servo motor works with position feedback and cannot be separated from its drive. A standard IEC motor is made to run efficiently at fixed speed and has neither a tool holder nor a position sensor. If you come to us for either part, we will tell you plainly: “not in our range, ask the machine maker or a spindle repair service.”

Separate blade motor on older machines
On some CNC or PLC-controlled bridge saws the blade is turned by a separate induction motor running at fixed speed; the blade shaft sits in its own bearings and is joined to the motor by belt or direct coupling. Here the motor may have a standard IEC frame and a match may exist in our range. We cannot say so without seeing the nameplate, frame and flange size; if the shaft end connects straight to the blade or tool, it is usually a special-shaft motor.
Three CNC types: bridge-blade, router and lathe
Bridge-blade CNC (5-axis saw)
This is the numerically controlled form of a bridge saw. The head rotates and tilts; with a large blade it cuts countertops, kitchen tops, steps and cladding, and the same spindle can take finger bits and core drills. On most models the table is lifted to 85° by a hydraulic cylinder, and a vacuum manipulator shifts the cut pieces. Our article on power selection for bridge and block saws gives the general frame for blade peripheral speed and cutting power.
Router-type CNC
It works with a high-speed spindle on a gantry, carving, lettering, relief work and sink cut-outs. The part is usually held on a vacuum table or suction cups. From an electric motor point of view there are two separate worlds here: the spindle and axes (not at DRG) and the vacuum pump and water circulation (DRG’s field).
Lathe-type CNC
It machines rotational pieces such as balusters, columns, vases and spheres. The workpiece turns about an axis while a blade or profile tool follows the programmed shape. On most models the main motor turns the blade head; the drive turning the workpiece and the axes moving the head are separate. If the main blade motor has a standard frame, a match may exist in our range after checking.
Auxiliary motors that DRG supplies
Vacuum pump motor
Routers and machining centres hold the part by vacuum; if vacuum drops, the part slides and the tool breaks. Liquid ring vacuum pumps run with water, which suits a stone workshop, and are usually coupled directly to a three-phase induction motor. When the motor is replaced the pump body stays put and only the motor comes off; flange, shaft and direction of rotation are checked against the pump.
Cooling water and circulation pump
Blades and tools are water-cooled; water comes either from the mains or is pumped from a settling tank. Water pump motors are usually small 2-pole motors. For pumps on the tank and filter side see our Pump Motors category, and for a power estimate the pump motor power calculator. We carry no submersible pump motors.
Hydraulic unit and slurry conveyor
Tilting tables and some clamping systems run on a small hydraulic unit; the motor turns the pump, and its power follows from pressure and flow (hydraulic pump motor kW calculation). Screw or belt conveyors carrying cutting slurry and chips run on a geared motor; the gearbox is outside our scope, the motor is within it.

Motor powers on CNC stone machines on the market
A) From maker catalogues; the “DRG match” column shows the overlap with our range:
| Machine / equipment | Motor power | DRG match | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5-axis CNC bridge saw, blade electrospindle | 17.7–18.5 kW, 0–6000 rpm | None | two makers; same spindle mills and core drills |
| 5-axis CNC bridge saw, extra side electrospindle | 3.7 kW, 14,000 rpm | None | first maker, option |
| 5-axis CNC bridge saw, brushless blade motor | 11.8 kW, 0–4500 rpm | None | third maker |
| CNC bridge saw, standard blade motor | 7.5 or 11 kW, 1400 rpm (50 Hz) | After checking | fourth maker |
| PLC bridge saw | 15 kW blade + 2.2 kW hydraulic + 1.1–1.5 kW axes | Blade and hydraulic, after checking | fifth maker; total 21.3 kW |
| Router-type stone CNC, water-cooled spindle | 4.5–6 kW, 24,000 rpm | None | two makers |
| Liquid ring vacuum pump for CNC | 0.83–7.5 kW, 400 V | Yes | vacuum equipment catalogue, 22–232 m³/h |
| Stone lathe (balusters, columns) main motor | 7.5–11 kW; vertical twin-head type 2 × 11 kW | After checking | sixth maker |
In this machine group the main cutting and machining motors sit at about 4.5–18.5 kW depending on the model, and auxiliary motors (vacuum, hydraulic, axes) at 0.83–7.5 kW. Total installed power is not one motor’s power; of the 21.3 kW total on the bridge saw in the table, 15 kW is the blade.
B) Where DRG fits: electrospindles, side spindles, brushless blade motors, router spindles and servo axes are not in our range even when they fall within these figures. The overlap is limited to 0.83–7.5 kW vacuum pump motors, small water pump and hydraulic unit motors, and separate standard-frame blade motors of 7.5–15 kW. For that last group we have 1500 rpm (4-pole) models; a variable-speed blade drive is not something we offer.
Example: the motor of a CNC cooling water pump
One 5-axis bridge-blade CNC catalogue gives water consumption as 40 L/min at 3 bar. If water is pushed to the machine by a separate pump, P = ρ·g·Q·H / η gives a rough motor power:
| Step | Operation | Result | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 40 L/min ÷ 60,000 | 0.000667 m³/s | water consumption from the data sheet |
| 2 | 3 bar ≈ 30.6 m | H | required head |
| 3 | 1000 × 9.81 × 0.000667 × 30.6 | 200 W | power delivered to the water |
| 4 | 200 W ÷ 0.45 | 0.44 kW | assumed efficiency of a small centrifugal pump |
| 5 | pipe losses and margin | 0.55–0.75 kW | DRG-712-2 or DRG-801-2 class |
The efficiency in the calculation is an assumption; the real value is read from the pump curve. If water comes from the mains, the machine may have no pump at all. The result does not replace the motor power recommended by the pump maker; it only shows the order of magnitude.
DRG motors: models for CNC peripheral equipment
Powers often seen on water and vacuum pumps, hydraulic units and standard blade motors (current at 400 V):
| Model | Power / speed | Frame · shaft D×E | Current 400 V |
|---|---|---|---|
| DRG-802-2 | 1.1 kW / 2880 rpm | 80 cast iron · 19×40 | 2.31 A |
| DRG-90L-2 | 2.2 kW / 2895 rpm | 90L cast iron · 24×50 | 4.35 A |
| DRG-100L2-4 | 3 kW / 1450 rpm | 100L cast iron · 28×60 | 6.02 A |
| DRG-132S-4 | 5.5 kW / 1460 rpm | 132S cast iron · 38×80 | 10.7 A |
| DRG-160M-4 | 11 kW / 1465 rpm | 160M cast iron · 42×110 | 20.4 A |
| DRG-160L-4 | 15 kW / 1465 rpm | 160L cast iron · 42×110 | 27.3 A |
Before recommending a motor we compare the old nameplate, the pump or machine maker’s document and our own data sheet: rated output and speed, the voltage pair printed for the winding, frame size and mounting form (foot B3, flange B5, both as B35, or V1 for vertical use), shaft diameter and key, flange, coupling or pulley connection, and the motor’s position relative to water and slurry. Our motors are IP55; cutting water must not reach the motor fan directly. We give no firm fit guarantee and say clearly which dimension does not match.

Frequently asked questions
The electrospindle of my CNC marble machine failed; can a DRG motor be fitted?
No. An electrospindle is designed as a whole with its tool clamping, bearings and drive; a standard induction motor cannot take its place. Contact a spindle repair service or the machine maker.
Can I replace the vacuum pump motor separately?
If pump and motor are separate parts, yes; flange, shaft and speed must match the old motor. Where pump and motor share one housing (monobloc), check the pump maker’s manual first.
What does the price of a CNC stone machine motor depend on?
For the auxiliary motors we sell, on power, frame and mounting type; the table shows the current shop value.
