The model code alone is not enough, because what the code covers varies from supplier to supplier. The quotation should state clearly at least the power, synchronous speed, voltage and connection, frequency, IEC frame number, mounting arrangement, shaft dimensions, protection and insulation class, cooling method and frame material.

DRG-160M-6 7.5 kW 1000 rpm aluminium frame DRG three-phase motor – technical details in a motor quotation

Electrical details

  • Shaft power (kW) and number of poles or synchronous speed
  • Rated voltage and connection (e.g. 400/690 V Δ/Y)
  • Frequency and the rated current given on the nameplate
  • If it is to be used with a drive, this should be stated in the quotation

Mechanical details

  • IEC frame number and shaft height
  • Mounting arrangement: foot, flange or both; flange type and size
  • Shaft diameter and length, key size
  • Overall length and position of the terminal box
  • Frame material: aluminium or cast iron

Environmental and operating details

The protection class (for example IP55), insulation class (for example F), cooling type (for example IC411, self-ventilated) and the ambient conditions the motor is offered for should be included in the quotation. In heavy applications such as stone crushing, the service factor should be asked about; at DRG, SF 1.15 is specified on crusher motors of 75 kW and above.

Useful documents to attach

A dimension drawing, a sample nameplate and the warranty conditions in writing clarify the technical scope of the quotation. Special requests (a different shaft, flange, voltage or paint) should be stated separately in the quotation; because these products are prepared specifically for the buyer, they may fall outside the scope of returns.

You can see this information for DRG models on product pages such as the 11 kW 1500 rpm aluminium motor page, and use the quotation request form for several items.
