The first step is to inform DRG in writing as soon as you realise the requirement has changed. If the motor has not yet been dispatched, whether the order can be revised to the new model is confirmed in writing; if it has been delivered, an exchange for a suitable model is possible provided the motor is unused, not installed and complete with its packaging.

Exchange conditions after delivery
- The motor must not have been run, connected or installed on a machine.
- It must be returned with all accessories and documents, in suitable packaging.
- Any price difference between the new and the old model is communicated; unless agreed otherwise, freight is borne by the buyer.
- Motors prepared specifically for the buyer (special voltage, frequency, flange, shaft, paint or winding) are excluded from exchange.
After notification, the product must be sent back within the return period; the details are set out in the return and exchange policy. If a fault appears after the motor has been connected and run, the matter is assessed under the warranty terms rather than as an exchange.
How does the new model affect the machine?
A change in power or speed is often more than a change of nameplate:
| Change | Possible effect |
|---|---|
| Power goes up one step | The frame may get bigger; base holes and shaft height change |
| Number of poles changes | Shaft size and pulley ratio are recalculated |
| Moving from 3 kW to 4 kW or above | The winding changes from 230/400 V to 400/690 V; the starting arrangement is reassessed |
For example, in the 1500 rpm class the 15 kW model is in the 160L frame and the 18.5 kW model in the 180M frame; the shaft goes up from 42 mm to 48 mm. So a single step up in power can also mean reworking the pulley hub and the baseframe. Compatibility on the panel side depends on the motor nameplate, the manufacturer's documentation and the assessment of qualified electrical personnel.
To avoid a change
If you are not sure about power or speed, assess the machine data and the old motor's nameplate together before ordering; the selection wizard can be used for a first check. Once you have settled on the new model, you can check the dimensions on product pages such as the 18.5 kW 180M cast iron model or in the three-phase motor list.
