A general purpose electric motor is a versatile induction motor that, rather than being designed for one specific machine, can be used in pumps, fans, conveyors, compressors and many standard drives. Thanks to standard IEC frame sizes and common mounting types, it fits a wide range of machines directly. DRG Motor offers this category across a broad power range from its İzmir-based supply.
Features of a General Purpose Motor
These motors are built for 400 V / 50 Hz supply with IP55 protection and Class F insulation, to run in S1 continuous duty. Their standard construction eases both spare-part availability and interchangeability across different machines.
Mounting Types and Installation Flexibility
The foot-mounted B3 frame is used for base mounting, the flange-mounted B5 connection for direct coupling of pumps and gearboxes, and the face-mounted B14 connection on compact machines. These three options adapt the general purpose motor to very different mechanical layouts.
Power and Speed Options
By application, 2 poles at 3000 rpm, 4 poles at 1500 rpm or 6 poles at 1000 rpm are selected. Thanks to the wide power range, the same motor family serves loads from small fans to large pumps; the efficiency class starts at IE3.
Choosing the Right General Purpose Motor
Versatility does not mean neglecting the right power and speed choice; the load profile determines motor life. DRG Motor supplies general purpose motors from 0.55 to 355 kW from its İzmir plant; we can determine the power, pole count, housing and mounting type that suit your machine together.
