A cast iron frame electric motor stands out for its long life under demanding conditions. The high mass and hardness of cast iron make the motor resistant to vibration, impact and continuous heat. In its İzmir production, DRG Motor uses cast iron frames as standard for heavy-duty applications.

Why Cast Iron Lasts Longer

Cast iron has a more rigid structure than aluminium and holds its shape under mechanical stress. This rigidity keeps the shaft and bearing axis true, reducing vibration. In applications with shock loads such as crushers, conveyors and compressors, a cast iron frame markedly extends motor life.

Heat Management and Continuous Duty

The high mass of a cast iron frame absorbs the heat generated and dissipates it from the surface, keeping winding temperature in balance. In S1 continuous duty, together with Class F insulation, this lets the motor run steadily for years. Heat control is the most critical element of long life.

Which Applications?

Stone-crushing plants, cement and mining lines, heavy pump and fan systems, and crane and lifting equipment are the natural home of cast iron frame motors. With IP55 protection, they also run safely in environments thick with dust and moisture.

DRG Motor Cast Iron Production

Our cast iron frame motors, from 0.55 to 355 kW, in 2/4/6-pole versions with IP55 and Class F insulation, come in B3/B5/B14 mounting options. If you need a long-life motor for heavy duty, you can determine the right option for your application together with DRG Motor.
