Stone crushing plants are among the harshest applications an electric motor can face. The crusher works under sudden, variable load, the environment is thick with dust, and the line runs without break for most of the day. In these conditions an AC asynchronous motor, with its high starting torque and rugged build, is the right choice. DRG Motor supplies such motors for crushing lines.
How Crusher Load Affects the Motor
Jaw and impact crushers create a sudden torque demand as material enters. The motor must provide high starting and breakdown torque so the crusher does not stall under these shocks. A high-inertia design damps abrupt load swings and protects the shaft and bearings.
Resistance to Dust and Vibration
Stone dust is the motor's most punishing enemy. An IP55 protection class keeps dust and splashing water away from the windings. A cast iron frame resists the constant vibration of the crushing line and sheds heat efficiently, while Class F insulation preserves winding life even at high ambient temperatures.
Speed and Power Selection
Crusher drive is usually handled by 4-pole 1500 rpm or 6-pole 1000 rpm motors, with the lower speed giving higher torque. High-kW motors are chosen according to plant capacity; the correct power rating governs both throughput and motor life.
