An IE3 motor is a three-phase asynchronous motor that meets the Premium efficiency class under IEC 60034-30-1 and has become the de facto standard for industrial applications. In industrial service, IE3 provides both regulatory compliance and clear operating savings over long running hours.

What IE3 Guarantees

The IE3 label shows that the motor exceeds a defined minimum efficiency threshold for a given power and pole count. This means losses are reduced compared with IE1 Standard and IE2 High efficiency classes, so the motor draws less energy from the grid for the same shaft output.

The Advantage Under Industrial Load

In all-day applications such as conveyors, pumps, fans and compressors, the IE3 efficiency advantage feeds straight into the energy bill. On a motor running under S1 continuous duty, the higher purchase price is recovered through consumption within a short period.

Construction and Operating Conditions

Industrial IE3 motors are typically built with Class F insulation, IP55 protection and a cast iron housing; on a 400 V / 50 Hz supply they offer 2/4/6-pole options at 3000/1500/1000 rpm synchronous speed. B3 foot, B5 flange and B14 face mounting let the motor fit the mechanical layout.

Choosing the Right IE3 Motor

DRG Motor supplies industrial IE3 asynchronous motors from 0.55 to 355 kW. Send us your application's power, speed and mounting requirements, and we will select a motor matched to its duty cycle together.
