IE3, IE4 and IE5 electric motors represent the three highest efficiency classes in the IEC 60034-30-1 standard. The main difference between them is the level of energy loss while doing the same work.
IE3 – Premium Efficiency
IE3 is today's industrial standard. It runs with low losses and is mandatory as the minimum efficiency class in many applications. With balanced price-performance it is widely used.
IE4 – Super Premium Efficiency
IE4 runs with fewer losses than IE3 and provides more energy savings in continuous service. It stands out in long-running pump, fan and compressor applications.
IE5 – Ultra Premium Efficiency
IE5 is the highest efficiency level available. It is designed for intensively running plants targeting minimum energy loss and maximum savings.
Which Class to Choose?
The choice depends on the motor's daily running time and energy cost. DRG Motor offers IE3, IE4 and IE5 motors from 0.55 to 355 kW and determines the class best suited to your application.
