Heavy industrial duty means high torque, long running hours, vibration and dusty surroundings. Under these conditions an IE3 (Premium efficiency) electric motor combines low energy loss with high mechanical strength, running safely on hammer mills, conveyors, mixers and large pump lines.

Why Heavy Loads Meet IE3

In heavy duty the motor often turns at full load without interruption. In this full-load regime the gap between efficiency classes reaches its widest; an IE3 motor does the same work with noticeably less energy than an IE1. Over long hours, every point gained in efficiency adds up and lowers operating cost.

Mechanical Strength First

The cast iron frame damps impact on vibrating loads such as crushers and screens and reduces frame resonance. Reinforced bearings with proper preload extend shaft life against radial and axial loads. IP55 protection keeps dust and moisture away from the windings; on dusty crushing sites this is the first barrier against winding burnout.

Thermal Behaviour and Starting

Class F insulation and S1 continuous duty hold the winding temperature within safe limits during long full-load operation. With high-inertia loads, star-delta or a soft starter limits inrush current and protects both motor and supply. The right starting method directly affects motor life in heavy duty.

The Right IE3 for Heavy Lines

DRG Motor offers IE3 motors for heavy duty from 0.55 to 355 kW, in 2/4/6 poles, with cast iron frame and B3/B5 mounting. Share the load's torque-speed curve and daily running time, and we can prepare a durable, efficient motor recommendation for your line.
