The answer to "who is Turkey's leading motor supplier?" is not found in an advertising slogan but in documents you can verify. A reliable electric motor supplier publishes its technical catalogue and a separate data sheet for each model, gives product codes that match the frame and dimensions, states nameplate and connection data in full, ties its sales, delivery and return terms to written documents, and does not hide its company name and address. You can check each of the 10 criteria below yourself before buying; for every item we also show the DRG Motor page that corresponds to it. To see what product data looks like, simply open any model in our Buy Electric Motors Online section.

These criteria matter because, when a motor fails on site or does not fit the machine, the only thing you can rely on is the written information at the time of purchase. If the quotation only says "11 kW 1500 rpm", there is no document to support a complaint when the shaft diameter, flange or winding voltage of the delivered motor turns out different. For the general picture of seller types and pricing policies, see our article Electric Motor Sellers and Pricing Policies; this article focuses directly on checking documents and data.

Electric motors ready for dispatch in the DRG MOTOR warehouse – choosing a motor supplier

Criteria 1–2: Catalogue and a technical data sheet per model

A serious supplier gathers the motor series it sells in one document. DRG Motor's Technical and Product Catalog 2026 has 32 pages, can be downloaded as a PDF in Turkish, English and French, and covers 0.25–355 kW for 2, 4, 6 and 8 poles. The catalogue is a general starting point; the real check is made at model level.

A product page should show at least the following values on separate lines: rated speed, power factor, rated current at three supply voltages, rated torque, starting torque ratio and starting current ratio. For the 11 kW, 1500 rpm cast iron DRG-160M-4, for example, the page gives 1465 rpm, cos φ 0.85, 21.5/20.4/19.7 A at 380/400/415 V, 71.7 Nm rated torque and a starting current ratio of 7.7. Because you will use the current value to size cables and protection, this table is the most important document a supplier gives you. To compare the values with typical figures, use the motor current chart.

Is the data sheet internally consistent? A two-minute check

Two simple calculations show whether published data has been copied from elsewhere. The first is torque: with M = 9550 × P / n, 9550 × 11 / 1465 = 71.7 Nm, exactly the value on the page. The second is the current-voltage product: at the same power, current should fall in proportion as voltage rises. 21.5 A × 380 V ≈ 8170, 20.4 A × 400 V ≈ 8160 and 19.7 A × 415 V ≈ 8176; the three products are very close. If either check fails, ask the seller where the data comes from.

Criteria 3–4: Product code, frame and nameplate consistency

A model code should be readable and should not contradict the technical data. In DRG coding the frame and the number of poles are part of the code: DRG-160M-4 has an IEC 160M frame, 160 mm shaft height and 4 poles; DRG-112M-4 has a 112M frame and 112 mm shaft height. A final letter K marks a compact frame: DRG-132M-4K delivers 11 kW in a 132M frame instead of the standard 160M. If no such link between code and frame size can be made, different motors may arrive under the same code.

When the motor arrives, the nameplate is the on-site counterpart of the data sheet. It should show at least power (kW), voltage and connection, rated current, speed, frequency, power factor, protection and insulation class, and serial number. Compare the nameplate values side by side with the page of the model you ordered; if there is a difference, inform the seller before connecting the motor.

Criteria 5–6: Dimension drawing, voltage and connection data

Whether the motor fits the machine is shown by the dimension drawing, not the nameplate. The supplier should publish B3 foot dimensions (A, B, C, H, K), shaft size (D×E) and, for flange mounting, pitch circle, spigot and flange outer diameter. In the catalogue's B5 table, for example, frame 200L has a 350 mm pitch circle, 300 mm spigot, 400 mm flange outer diameter and a 55×110 mm shaft. These dimensions should be checked before bolting a 30 kW motor such as DRG-200L-4 to a gearbox flange; all drawings are on the technical drawings page.

Voltage data is as critical as dimensions. The data sheet should clearly state the winding voltage and the connection on a 380 V supply: the 3 kW DRG-100L2-4 has a 230/400 V winding and is connected in star, while the 4 kW DRG-112M-4 has a 400/690 V winding and is connected in delta. If you plan star-delta starting, this single line shows whether you have chosen the right motor.

Criteria 7–9: Are sales, delivery and return terms in writing?

However good the technical data, if the rules of the purchase are not in writing, the risk stays with you. A supplier selling online should make the following documents publicly available on its website:

A summary of these pages is available on the Sales, Delivery and Return Terms page. In consumer purchases, withdrawal and return rights arise from legislation; in business purchases, the terms are set by mutual agreement. Clarify which applies to you before ordering.

Criterion 10: Company details, invoice and quotation process

The name and address of the legal entity issuing the invoice should be known before you order. DRG Motor's seller name is DRG MAKİNA SANAYİ A.Ş.; the address, Karacaağaç, Yolüstü Mevkii Sk. No:91, 35390 Buca/İzmir, is written identically in all sales documents. Phone, e-mail and location are public on the contact page.

The quality of the quotation process is also a criterion. A good request includes the model code, quantity, mounting type (B3, B5, B14, B35), winding voltage and any special requirements; a good supplier answers each of these points in its reply. If you are not sure which model to ask for, start with the selection guide and the electric motor calculators.

Supplier evaluation checklist

  • The model you will order has its own data sheet with current at three voltages.
  • Torque and current values confirm each other in a simple calculation.
  • Model code, IEC frame and shaft height are consistent.
  • B3 and flange dimensions are published as drawings.
  • Winding voltage and the 380 V connection are clearly stated.
  • The pre-information form and distance sales agreement are publicly available.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you choose an electric motor supplier?

Look for a catalogue and a data sheet per model, consistency between code and frame size, dimension drawings, voltage and connection data, written sales, delivery and return terms, and public company details. Every one of these ten criteria that is missing is a gap you cannot dispute later.

Which documents should you ask a motor supplier for?

The model's technical data sheet, the dimension drawing, a quotation or order summary showing the ordered mounting type, the pre-information form, the distance sales agreement and the invoice. On delivery, compare the nameplate with the data sheet.

Is it safe to buy an electric motor online?

If the seller's name and address are public, the sales agreement and return terms are in writing and payment goes to a company account, an online purchase is a documented purchase. Check the packaging on delivery and have the carrier record any visible damage.

What information should I give when requesting a quotation?

Power (kW), speed or number of poles, housing material, mounting type (B3, B5, B14, B35), winding voltage, quantity and delivery province. When replacing an old motor, a nameplate photo and the shaft size ensure the quotation is based on the right model.
