Ankara has a dense production base built on the defense industry, machinery manufacturing and food processing plants. Most of these facilities rely on alternating current (AC) electric motors to drive their production lines. As an İzmir-based supplier, DRG Motor offers Ankara's industrial firms a wide range of AC motors.

How an AC Motor Works

AC motors run on the rotating magnetic field created by the alternating current from the grid. The most common type, the three-phase asynchronous motor, has become an industrial standard thanks to its simple build and low maintenance needs. The field formed in the stator drags the rotor, producing mechanical rotation.

Applications in Ankara Industry

In Ankara's machine shops, AC motors drive machine tools; in food plants they run mixers and conveyors; and at defense industry suppliers they power precision production lines. Since these applications usually operate under continuous and variable load, motors rated for S1 duty with IP55 protection are preferred.

Efficiency, Speed and Frame

DRG's AC motors come in IE3 and IE4 efficiency classes, from 0.55 to 355 kW. On a 50 Hz supply they deliver 3000 rpm at 2-pole, 1500 rpm at 4-pole and 1000 rpm at 6-pole. Cast iron and aluminum frame options, together with B3/B5/B14 mounting types, are chosen to match the application.
