An AC electric motor is the motor family that produces rotary motion from alternating current and forms the basis of industrial drive systems. In its new-generation AC range, DRG Motor raises efficiency classes to deliver quiet, long-lasting models that do the same work with less energy.

How an AC Motor Works

In asynchronous AC motors, the stator windings create a rotating magnetic field from the mains alternating current and drag the rotor along. Speed changes with frequency, so paired with a variable frequency drive the motor delivers variable-speed control. The robust asynchronous construction keeps maintenance low.

What the New Generation Changes

DRG's new-generation AC motors are built in IE3, IE4 and IE5 efficiency classes. Optimised stator-rotor geometry cuts magnetic losses, while improved cooling fins keep winding temperature down. The motor therefore runs cool and efficient even under high load, extending the life of its F-class insulation.

Frame Options and Applications

The cast iron frame provides durability in vibration-prone heavy industry, while the aluminium frame stands out for its light weight and fast heat dissipation in pump and fan duties. With a 0.55–355 kW range, 2/4/6 poles and B3/B5/B14 mounting, applications from conveyors to compressors are covered.
