High-kW electric motors rated at 1000 rpm use a 6-pole design to produce high torque at low speed, making them the preferred choice for directly driving heavy loads. The low speed often removes the need for a gearbox, reducing mechanical losses.

The Advantage of the 6-Pole Design

On a 50 Hz supply, synchronous speed is set by the pole count: 2 poles give 3000 rpm, 4 poles 1500 rpm and 6 poles 1000 rpm. Because a 6-pole motor delivers higher torque at the same power, it suits high-inertia loads such as crushers, mixers and large fans.

High Torque at Low Speed

A 1000 rpm motor lifts the load more gently and reduces mechanical stress at start-up. As a result, wear on transmission elements like belts, couplings and gears slows down, and the system runs quieter with less vibration.

Frame, Protection and Efficiency

High-kW 1000 rpm motors are typically built with a cast iron frame, IP55 protection and Class F insulation. The IE3 or IE4 efficiency class noticeably lowers energy consumption on heavy loads that run continuously.

Selecting by Application

DRG Motor supplies 6-pole 1000 rpm high-power motors up to 355 kW. We determine the right combination of power and frame together, based on your load's torque demand, moment of inertia and running hours.
